Six months of standstill: How real data changed the outcome
Project overview:
A pharmaceutical manufacturer initiated rollouts of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Supply Chain Management in France and Spain, based on a predefined global blueprint and a planned six-month timeline to go-live.
However, as execution progressed, local financial complexities quickly invalidated the blueprint assumptions. Challenges around chart of accounts mapping, VAT reporting requirements, and country-specific financial processes prevented alignment between the global design and local realities.
After six months, the project had made no tangible progress toward go-live.
Our approach and expertise:
Quantum Omega Group was engaged to recover the situation by shifting the approach from theoretical design to practical validation. Using the Data Migration Framework, the team rapidly converted configuration and master data, supplemented with one full week of real transactional data. This enabled the creation of a fully operational test environment within six weeks.
By working with real data instead of assumptions, gaps in processes, reporting, and system behavior became immediately visible and could be addressed in a controlled and structured manner.
The focus was placed on accelerating learning and validation cycles rather than extending design discussions. Real-life scenarios were executed end-to-end, allowing both business and technical teams to align on actual system behavior.
This approach eliminated ambiguity, reduced rework, and ensured that decisions were based on facts rather than interpretations. As a result, the project moved from stagnation to controlled execution within a short timeframe.
The result?
Within three months of Quantum’s involvement, both France and Spain successfully reached go-live. What had previously been six months of inactivity was transformed into a focused execution phase with measurable progress and tangible outcomes.
The introduction of real data enabled accurate validation of financial processes, ensured compliance with local requirements, and provided users with a realistic environment to operate in before go-live. This significantly reduced risk and eliminated the need for extensive post-go-live corrections.
By introducing real data early, organizations replace assumptions with facts, accelerate decision-making, and significantly increase the likelihood of a successful outcome.
